Chryso Makariou, a soprano of Cypriot origin, has studied opera singing at the National Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov” of Sofia. In 2004 she obtained a Postgraduate degree from the “St. Kliment Ohridski” University of Sofia on classical singing. Among the studies that Chryso Makariou pursued, is the participation in a series of seminars on singing, performing and acting given by the well known Prof. Boris Hinchev (Conductor of the National Opera of Sofia), Elena Mindizova, Rossitza Valkanova and Plamen Kartalov (Director of the National Opera of Sofia). Further, she was a Laureate at the International Singing Competition at Spoleto, Italy and at the “Boris Christov” International Song Competition. The master classes she has participated include the ones given by Raina Kabaivanska, Prof. KS Margarita Lilova, Wessela Zlateva and Monserrat Caballe.
Chryso Makariou had her debut appearance in 2004 where she performed “Mimi” (La Boheme, Puccini) at the Academic Theatre of Sofia. She appears since then in central Europe under the roles of Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro - Mozart), Micaela (Carmen- Bizet), Dido (Dido and Aeneas- Purcell) as well as in a number of music festivals and recitals in Italy, Germany, France Cyprus, Greece and Austria.
